Casino Royale (2006)

Director: Martin Campbell

Cast: Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Madds Mikkelsen, Judi Dench

Synopsis: After receiving 00 status James Bond (Daniel Craig) heads to Madagascar to monitor and question a terrorist that is planning to blow up a new airplane being unveiled he is working for Le Chiffre (Madds Mikkelsen). After thwarting the attempt Bond is sent of mission to Casino Royale in Montenegro to participate in a high stakes poker game set up by Le Chiffre to recover the money he lost. He is accompanied by Treasury agent Vesper Lind (Eva Green) who is in charge of the money Bond will be gambling. 007 will not only discover the threatening organization behind his enemy, but the worst of all truths: to not trust anyone.

Trivia: Daniel Craig actually rejected the part of James Bond a year before as he had felt that the series had settled into a standard formula. He changed his mind when he read the finished script.

Why I think you should see this: I have really enjoyed Daniel Craig’s first two outings as bond with this being the much superior film. The action in the film is very good and while it is a little long for Bond film it never really seems to get boring like previous installments could. Martin Campbell  does a great job in his second outing directing a Bond film the first being Goldeneye (1995). Fans of the Bourne franchise will be satisfied by this movies spectacular fight scenes. Daniel Craig does a great job as the best Bond since Connery in my opinion.

I like Daniel Craig best as a runner up to Sean Connery too.

  2. Daniel Craig IS James Bond. He is what I imagine a James Bond to be. Cold, calculating, ruthless, a killer but with morals. I can’t wait for the next instalment. Kim*
